During installation, a copy of this document will be placed into your installation folder. You can print it from there if you like.

 

Two important notes if upgrading from NEO Pro 3.0

 

1  -  Have you customized your Toolbars or List Pane columns?

 

If yes, you may want to make a note of the changes before proceeding with this installation. This upgrade will reset them back to their default settings.

 

2  -  Please rebuild your Catalogs. 

 

Several new features in Version 3.1 (searching Deleted Items, enhanced word indexing, and the new Importance and Filed columns) all require a reprocessing of your existing messages. We regret this inconvenience but can see no way around it. 

 

You can defer rebuilding until later, but the new NEO features mentioned above will not operate on old messages until you rebuild.

 

To rebuild your catalog, click File menu | Catalog | Rebuild Catalog.   Thank you.

What is Nelson Email Organizer (NEO)

 

Nelson Email Organizer is a refreshing new interface for managing and searching email. It automatically organizes your email into easy-to-access views. On-the-fly word indexing and a web-style search makes finding messages a breeze - search thousands of messages in seconds. Message filtering lets you zero in on your important mail quickly.

 

An alternative interface for Microsoft Outlook email, NEO works with Outlook Personal Stores, offline Stores and Microsoft Exchange Server mailboxes. You can compose, reply, forward, send and receive all from within NEO, and you can switch easily between NEO and Outlook whenever you like.

 

NEO Free and NEO Pro - One Program

 

NEO Free is a simplified way to use NEO, and it's absolutely free, forever. NEO Pro has extra features for those needing more capability.

 

In Version 3.1 we have included both NEO Free and NEO Pro as a single program installed on your computer that runs in either NEO Free mode or NEO Pro mode. NEO Free users can try NEO Pro (and vice versa) without having to download, install or having to create different catalogs. They simply switch between the two modes from within the product.

 

NEO Free is really NEO Pro with the Pro features hidden from view. From the computer's perspective, NEO is physically installed as NEO Pro (e.g., in Program Files) and you determine whether it runs as NEO Pro or in NEO Free mode. The mode you start in depends on whether you downloaded and installed NEO Free (NEOFreeSetup.exe) or NEO Pro (NEOProSetup.exe).

 

NEO Free users can click Try Pro! on the toolbar (or click Switch to NEO Pro on the Help menu). That starts a 30-day evaluation of NEO Pro (see next section). During the evaluation period users can switch between NEO Free and NEO Pro as often as you like. Licensed NEO Pro users can even switch to NEO Free.

 

NEO Pro Evaluation

 

The NEO Pro evaluation is a fully-functional product. You may try all NEO Pro features free of charge for 30 days using an evaluation license you will receive when you start NEO Pro.  You can purchase NEO Pro at any time. After the trial period, NEO Pro will no longer start unless you register. Registering NEO Pro will unlock it for you for permanent use - there is no need to download again.

 

If you choose not to use NEO Pro, you can always use NEO Free.

 

System Requirements

 

·       Windows 98/Me, Win NT, Win 2000, or Win XP.

·       Microsoft Outlook 98, 2000, 2002(XP) or 2003 installed.

 

Notes:

 

*   NEO does not work with Microsoft Outlook Express.

 

* NEO does not work with IMAP message stores.

 

* If using Exchange 2000 Server, Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 2 must be installed; if using Exchange 5.5, Microsoft Exchange Service Pack 3 must be installed.

* Even though Microsoft Outlook needs to be installed, it does not need to be running to use NEO. NEO does not interfere with your use of Outlook in any way.

 

* If using Outlook 2003, please install Outlook Service Pack 1.  In Service Pack 1 Microsoft fixed defects that caused NEO problems when accessing data in OST and Cached Exchange Mode.  Service Pack 1 can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9C51D3A6-7CB1-4F61-837E-5F938254FC47&displaylang=en.

How to Install

 

Download the setup program (NEOFreeSetup.exe or NEOProSetup.exe) from our download page and save it on your computer. Close all applications (it's especially important that Outlook and previous versions of NEO or NEO products are closed), then double-click the downloaded file and follow the directions.

 

The mode you start in depends on the SetUp program you installed, but you can switch between modes from within the product (see Help menu).

 

Note that NEO 2.5, NEO 3 (Standard) and NEO Free/ProPro 3.1 are all separate programs that operate in completely separate areas of your computer, and can run concurrently. When updating a previously installed NEO Pro 3, install it over the same file location as before - there is no need to uninstall before updating.

 

 

How to Uninstall

 

·       Click Start, then Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs program.

·       Select NEO Pro.

·       Click either Change or Remove (depends on your system). If you click Change, choose Remove when the dialog appears.

·       You can choose whether or not to remove your catalog data. If you believe you will not be using NEO again, then choose to remove it.

·       Also, it helps us to know why you are uninstalling NEO Pro. We'd appreciate it if you click the box to give us a reason.
